Dearest Spennettas,
Well the holidays are over and I suppose Paul has bone back to school. Does he hate go go back after a vacation?
We ushered the new year in pretty tamely. Went to a friends' and played cards, lunched and visited until 4:30 a.m. Our husbands were in a Black Jack game and we couldn't break it up. You should have seen me pushing Sharon home at that hour. A few cars passed and must have thot I was crazy.
We were invited out for dinner New Year's day and we listened tot he Rose Bowl game. Were you there? I thot about you. S'pose you're all thrilled to pieces over the outcome.
We had such a nice Christmas. Thanks so much for all our gifts. I saved the pigs and dolls for Bobbie's birthday. They are so cute. I'm going to snitch the dolls for my what-not. Sharon loves her bunny. It's so soft an cuddly.
We all got such nice things. My folks and in-laws gave me a genuine rock crystal sherbet and goblet set - eight pieces. I weas so happy with them. I'm glad they got such nice ones as long as my silver is sterling. Aunt Edna, I've never seen a silver pattern that I like 1/2 as well as the one you chose and started for me. I've used my table cloth several times and some one always remarks about how pretty it is.
Bobbie got a new stream lined tricycle and a buggy just about like my baby buggy. It has a hand brake, sliding hood, window glass, and is about the same color. Mother made her a little afghan robe exactly like the one she made Sharon and people stand and stare when we go up town. She has a brown coat and orange scarf and I do too, so she looks like a stunted imitation of me. She got a double barrel rifle and she dresses up in breeches and boot and dresses up and plays cowboy on a stick horse. She rides around whooping with Sharon right on her heels trying to do the same thing. We get a big kick out of them.
Sharon is getting so cute. I'm sure her hair will be in ringlets next summer, it's getting so curly. It's quite blond too. She looks just like Eddie. I have such a nice photo of her at 5 mo. 2 weeks. Id'd love to send you one but they are sort of expensive. I'm going to send them for you to see tho so you'll have some idea of what she looks like. Bobbie has a permanent now and looks so much prettier now and looks so much prettier than in a picture.
Wasn't it a shame that Miriam lost her twin boys. It's still so hard for me to believe she had twins, and especially boys. I felt just terrible about it -- as it must have broken hner heart. She is going to have another baby as soon as she is strong. She wanted to surprise all of you. Wouldn't it have been a surprise if they had lived?
It's nearly time for Eddie to come home from work. He works till 10:00 tonite.
Your cards were so pretty, Betty. I wish you had written a note on mine tho. It's been so long since I've heard from you. Write and tell me all your plans. You must have some. Mama says you are very fond of a grand fellow. I have a picture of all of you at the beach and he looks so nice and pleasant.
I hear Eddie whistling. He must be happy tonite.
Mary, I wouldn't have recognized you in that beach picture. There isn't a thing about you that looks like the little girl you were five years ago.
I hear you are doing well in school. Virginia is doing marvelously. She had nothing but As all year. She's so tall and slender and quite pretty now. Are you very tall?
I'm so glad Mama and Papa are taking their trip this summer, but I'd feel terily relieved if they would come by train instead of automobile. The Biffee accident was so awful.
How is Paul getting along with his themes? I'll bet he's wished Mrs. A. Flaherty was around to help once or twice.
The folks were hoping they would feel a little earthquake in S..... I had a card from Mother and she said there was one Saturday nite but they missed it. We have felt four here but the last one was Thanksgiving Day.
Happy New Year all of you and the best of health and wealth.
