Dear Mother,
Glad to hear Miriam is better. My cold is gradually wearing off. Today I could smell again for the first time in two weeks. I can't hear out of one ear.
I've been getting along o.k. with the cooking. We had pork chops and sour kraut last nite & it was awfully good. I've made ice cream several times and if I can get a cup of milk to sour, I'll make a cake.
I might go to a dance tonight at Wildwood. Bill Thomas & his orchestra scholl starts in 9 days now. The night before school starts we are giving a big party. Marie & Harriet are giving a chicken dinner at 7:00 - Charlotte M. & Jean Rushton are taking us to the second show and I'm giving a slomber party. We're going to use 39 & 41. There'll be 12 of us in 3 beds. I don't imagine we'll sleep much. Oh well - the first day of school doesn't count anyway. I'm sending the Fallon County Times -
Love,
Virginia

this was written the day Virginia's sister Miriam's baby Virginia was born. Viriginia Baker at 17 isn't into the baby thing yet.
