Dearest Mama,
I do hope your 85th birthday was a very happy one - perhaps you can use the stamps with the 4 boxes of stationery and the 48 notes you must write. I'm sorry I'm so late - didn't forget you, however. We have had to go to various doctors on the average of 3 or 4 times a week. Shirley has to go to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana every other day or so and then there's my appointments here and Judy's in San Bernardino to the dentist. I don't go downtown any more unless it's aboslutely necessary - have to keep off my feet.
Mother mentioned Mary had a large baby girl. When was she born? I've been thinking and wondering about her.
I secretly would prefer a girl but wouldn't dare say so in frong of my family. Carol especially wants a boy.
I expect to hear from Dad tomorrow about Mother. I got her letter written Saturday today and yours. No news is good news, I'm sure.
Harold is taking the girls to the Pomona Fair Friday night, I think. I'll have a nice peaceful night at home.
Getting the girls ready for school was quite achore this year. I managed to give Carol & Judy permanents (sitting down) and get the school shoes & gym clothes. Carol loves high school. They even have a lovely swminning pool & swim for gym in the fall and spring. Judy thinks Fr. High is fine too and Shirley is top grade on the totem at grade school. Shirley will be a senior in high school when our baby starts to school. Isn't that something!
Love, Virginia
